Day 4: Margaret River to Augusta
Good morning! A good sleep last night. But up with the larks to start stowing loose items ready for the drive to Augusta so as the place is a bit tidy it's a good time to introduce you to the van
We are meandering down the coast to Augusta today. But before that we decided it was about time we emptied the dunny (as they say on I'm a Celeb). No video of the actual emptying process (I did video it but it's quite distressing!) But here's Andy describing the process
Right then - let's hit the road and find some beaches!! First stop Gnarabup where we went for brekkie at the White Elephant Beach Cafe and Liz got her first swim fix of the holiday.
The water was stunning and clear. The water was surprisingly deep quite close to shore which made it nice for swimming. And that was all going great until:
I mean it was fine - the stingray was just chilling on the bottom and I'd been up for going in the water with stingrays at Hamelin Bay (where we ironically didn't see any!) but I wasn't expecting this one and it was a bit of a shock!!
Andy meanwhile was enjoying the chill
And here's a few more from Gnarabup:
We then headed down the coast to Hamelin Bay where we expected to see loads of stingrays and ironically didn't see any!
After this we were heading down towards Augusta when 2 emus crossed the road in front of us
The road to Augusta was called Caves Road and every few hundred yards there was a sign for a cave. We stopped off at the biggest one, Jewel Cave which was truly incredible. Check out these amazing pics
We are now at the caravan park in Augusta - it's incredibly quiet and peaceful. We are nestled among trees and are really spread out from our neighbours unlike at Margaret River where we were parked pretty close to other vans.
There is a river walk from where we are camped into Augusta. There's not a huge amount in Augusta but we found a little Asian Dumpling restaurant in an old single decker bus. Very cool & unusual

Tbf I think the stingray would have spooked me too, had I not gone looking for one 😊
No it just lay on the bottom minding its own business!
Did the stingray hurt you? It looks bad!
