Day 8: Walpole to Denmark via Greens Pool

This blog site throws up a load of AI stock images that I normally delete but that one of Greens Pool Beach is better than anything I captured!
We'd done a load of driving the previous day and were pretty knackered. So we decided to have a relaxed beach day

First we went for breakfast in Walpole. Then the strangest thing ever - I was just standing behind the van beckoning Andy out as he reversed and a lady walked past. I didn't really notice her but felt she was looking at me. Then she came back and said - I think we were on a wine tour with you in Margaret River - and it was! We had a little chat and went our separate ways, but in a country the size of Australia it's weird to think you can bump into someone like that.

Anyway we then drove to Green Pools Beach. It's beautiful with a large rock outcrop to sit on and perfect sand

As you can see from the video it was quite windy and cloudy but still warm. I did catch the sun

I went in for a bit of a swim

We then walked over to the lookout point for Elephant Rocks. These are meant to look like Elephants but to me look more like hippos

Driving to our campsite we pulled off the road to go to a winery/brewery as we'd run out of Margaret River wine.

There are so many of these little wineries in the region. The wine we bought wasn't as nice as the Margaret River wine but still nice to drink in the van

And trust me we needed a drink in the van tonight. Now I'd say that each of the sites we've been at has had both good and bad points. But I look back at each of them with a degree of fondness.

Denmark Scenic Tourist Park not so much. Our pitch on the surface is great. We have our own shower and toilet block for example. But it's out in the middle of nowhere, there isn't even a reception, we just got an email with a lock box code for our shower, but worst of all we have the most annoying neighbours ever. I honestly feel like I'm in an episode of Kath & Kim and not in a good way. They are loud, drunk, middle aged and very dull. Oh well. There had to be one terrible campsite!

Update - I do feel a bit mean now as the noisy neighbours gave me change for the laundry the next morning. The laundry facilities on the site were really good. But it was better suited to people with a separate car and caravan than a camper really. It was so out in the sticks and going off site in the van can be a mission.
